Beyond Grief

About

Beyond Grief is an independent publication about life after loss. We publish practical guides, thoughtful essays, and information for people who are grieving and those who want to support them.

Grief does not follow a schedule, and there is no single right way to live with it. Our aim is to make the next question a little easier to approach—whether that is what to say, what needs doing, or how to face an ordinary day that no longer feels ordinary.

“Beyond” does not mean leaving someone behind or reaching a point where grief is finished. It means making room for the life around a loss: the memories, responsibilities, relationships, and moments that continue alongside it.

Room for your experience

Loss can bring sadness, anger, relief, uncertainty, or feelings that change from day to day. You do not need to fit a particular story or timetable.

Help you can use

A clear explanation, a manageable option, or words for a difficult conversation can be more useful than a grand promise. That is the kind of help we aim to offer.

Choices, not instructions for grieving

Different beliefs, relationships, and circumstances call for different approaches. Take what is useful and leave what does not fit.

How this is written

Beyond Grief includes human contributions and AI-assisted editorial writing. Some bylines are editorial voices rather than individual contributors. A byline does not imply clinical qualifications or personal experience of bereavement.

Everyday life after loss

Reading about work, relationships, routines, and the practical questions that can follow a death.

Remembrance and reflection

Ideas and essays about memories, rituals, and the different ways people keep a connection with someone who has died.

Supporting someone

Ways to think about what to say, what to offer, and how to keep showing up without assuming you know what another person needs.

Information, not a support service

Our articles are for general reading, not medical, legal, financial, or therapeutic advice. We do not provide emergency support or individual counselling.
